I was able to get a go ahead ticket with my mom's name, but when i found out that you are only allowed 1 guest i signed up with my name with another one of my last names with a different email adress that i hold... hmm let me stop there because if i go on it will take forever. what i was getting at was that i gave them my actual age and they didnt even ackowledge that i sent a request in. they wrote to mom and stuff. i was just wondering if it was because she's an adult and im still under 18? you'd think they would want some older teens there since the megumi girl was a teenager. but whatever. i decided that since only two of us could go that i would just look for the documentary on dvd.

So you went? I was there too. It was a full house. I had no problem getting in, I printed my letter out, and was sent inside.
They have a website: abductionfilm.com. I don't know if they have the DVD out. But that documentary was eye opening. And kind of sad. I'll talk about it more tomorrow.

The last question first: It's a little smaller, in terms of base, than the theaters in the regular movie theaters (i.e. AMC 42nd st.). But the theater room is much flatter, you don't have to climb any stairs to get to the back. But it was packed and hot inside. I stepped on a lady's toe, while going to a seat. The corridors are also very narrow. And it seemed even more so, because of the people and the lighting stands. Oh it's only one floor, a very slight disappointment.
The second question: There was a performance, it was by a folk singer or something. It was ok, but I don't fancy folk music much, and I couldn't hear much of the words. The man who performed has a good voice, and he sung part of the song in Japanese, which was good. One other thing: the film showed Megumi's parents singing the same song in karaoke. In that sense it made me appreciate the musician and the song more.
The first question: It's a good movie. The movie goes into further detail mentioning a defective North Korean spy named, An. As I understand it, An corroborated the Japanese abduction accounts before the North Korean government admitted to them. That's why he was interviewed, even though he was a spy.
Another part of the movie went into one of the victim's (Rumiko) brother, Masumoto, who ran for election. I don't want to reveal the results though. Masumoto's father declared that he wouldn't die until he saw his kidnapped daughter again. Again I don't wanna ruin it for you.
Lastly, among other things: The mother becomes a Christian after reading Job 1.21 "the Lord gives and He takes away." She says that she was sad when she read that. But she found comfort in that verse...I'm sorry I can't remember her exact reasons. But I remembered the father saying that if God was good, God would have returned his daughter already.
One more last thing. There are a couple of humorous scenes in the movie even for its heavy context.
At the end of the movie, the producers answered questions about why they did the film and that it was for the American audience, because the Japanese already know some aspect of that story. The discrepancies of the North Korean government's position on the whole subject. The reason why the musician wrote the song...(I don't remember why, but I remember him saying that it didn't have anything to do with him having a daughter and relating to the Yobotas).
There are a couple of other things that I remember but they might ruin the experience that the filmmakers wanted to exude through their movie. I saw on the website that the DVD should be coming out in September. It was a good documentary.

thanks for answering the questions. the space issue is good in a way because mom cant see well in the dark so if its flat and she doesnt have to worry about stairs thats a plus but if it was ultra hot thats doesnt sound to neat. oh and the folk singer is the guy from peter, paul and mary. thanks again!
