Well I myself am not Japanese, however I find the Japanese Culture very interesting indeed. That is the main reason I watch it, even though some of my friends when they notice this. They ask why, I tell them it is Ok we're all HUMANS here, and I feel that only sticking to my culture is boring in my personal experience.
I am thrilled to watch new things especially when it is Japanese, it is so cool and different. Thanks and later dudes, I hope you understand my statement.

ever since i was a very little girl everything abouty the japanese way of life has interested me. the moment were i felt a complete conection was when i was 5 and i was learning a song for school and they taught us how to say hello in different lanaguages. so i heard konnichi wa and was like whoa it wasnt even anything on a mental thinking level it just felt good. so when my mom found this out she told me of a show that used to come on ch 13 in the mornings that talked about daily life in japan. fast forward about 6 years and i started my lessons in japanese. with getting older and entering h.s. it has become more difficult to stay on top of my studies but that's one of the reasons why i watch usn because they (used to) display shows (that i hope are coming back) that were in their original japanese format and added subtitles. so i was able to practice listeneing skills and to be able to pick out words that i wanted to learn. (it was usn that helped me retain the word for 'to be continued') so i find usn and all the work they are doing phenominal. its great to open up your body to different coulters and languages. so thats a long thing for how i started to watch USN.
hey its diggy diggy dr. kay! |

(I know this is kind of late, but...)
I mentioned this in another post, but years ago I saw this kids educational show and Japanese lessons on Saturdays nights. I watched them until the family got rid of the cable box. Hence I don't have ch. 63, WMBC-TV. Then last year, this show came on ch. 25. The drama Churasan was different to me, because I never really watched any type of drama. And if I did, it wasn't Japanese. But a few months later Ch. 25 and Entel cut off their Japanese programming. And here I am now. I want my free Japanese drama, educational, tourist fix. Those are my reasons.

| omg thats how i started watching again too. (with churasan and all) why did entel do that? i also liked the show they were showing about that woman named sakura who was from hawaii and decided to go back to japan to live and work for some months. that was a good show. i never got to see how it ended though. |

I've never seen the one with woman named Sakura, oh well.
August 25's episode had Ken Hirai which is pretty cool. I don't know who K is though. I didn't follow the news too much. Something about bad products from China. And the other two scenes covered Ibaraki prefecture and Mitsuwa Supermarket. I wish I was there.

| i know ibaraki looked really sweet, and a nice place to live if you had kids. i would do the camping thing. Not to sound to harse but I DESPISE Ken Hirai. His voice is such a turn off to me. when usn showed that strawberry sex music video last summer or spring i was sooo disgusted. the k guy was cute. he liked to use boku through out the music video. i so would have went to the supermarket if i knew. im going to look around to see if they have a newsletter or something and sign up for it. they announcer woman said that they have free shuttle from the port athority. (ill investigate.) |

I think the week before, USN showed clips of Furano, that looks like a pretty good place. But how long has USN been broadcasting on ch.25? If they showed Ken Hirai's music video since last year, I'm wondering where have I been all this time. BTW, I saw this other music video by Ken Hirai, it was all animation. It sounds good.
Good luck on that supermarket thing. Later.
